Special Thanks To Nintendo
The good folks at Nintendo of America recently reached out their giant arms in kindness to a group of fragile children and their families, our families at Camp Sundown.
A very generous donation of the Wii systems that have caused a "REVOLUTION" worldwide in video game consoles was presented to camp, just in time for the 2007 season.
Those familiar with XP are also quite familiar with how long it takes the sun to set on a typical day in July. Thanks to Nintendo, those long hours disappeared and were transformed into what seemed like mere minutes, filled with laughter, excitement and just pure fun. Playing Wii together helped our campers come out of their shells and get to know one another better than any other activity we could have imagined.
Our donated Wii's popularity did not stop at the end of the day, though. It continued long into the evening hours. On one rainy night, the Wii systems won the vote of either staying in and having Pizza, Wings and Wii or going to a special viewing of the new Harry Potter movie.
Our campers who hail from all over the world had little problem with their lack of ability to speak English. The universal language of laughter, put into play through the Wii, was understood perfectly by everyone.
This amazing gaming system and wonderful act of kindness showed us once again that there are indeed giant heroes like Nintendo of America all around us.
